In this painting,  princess Frangis from land of Turan  yearning for her love Siavash, a prince from Persia.

She is sitting next to a pomegranate tree which symbolize love and fertility. In her heart is a memory of Siavash offering his love to her  with a pomegranate. Frangis deep in thought, is interupted by a bird offering her a blossom from the pomegranate tree.
